2020 Ford F150 Redesign Exterior & Interior
We don’t expect the New Ford F150 to get major redesigns for its exterior and interior. That being the case, we do expect the 2020 model to get some changes here and there. It is meant to be a 2020 model, so it needs to keep up with the trend if it were to compete well in the light-duty segment. The changes in the exterior and interior will not significantly change the appearance of the 2020 F-150. If anything, it should emphasize what the lineup already has.
The base model is likely to get 17-inch wheels, a tilt, telescoping steering wheel, vinyl floors, manual locks, manual windows and, AM/FM radio. While these amenities may sound simple, do keep in mind that the base F-150 is designed specifically for work purposes, not pleasure. Obviously, there will be more amenities for the higher trims.
According to the spy shots, there will change for the 2020 F-150. The mule seems to have dual integrated, rear bumper exhaust. These exhausts make the truck looks even more stylish. The front grille is likely to get redesigned. The overall look of the 2020 model will be the same with the 2019 model, only it will be more refined and updated.
So far, there is no interior shot for the 2020 F-150. While we don’t know for sure how the interior looks like, we can use the previous models as a base for speculation. After all, significant changes are unlikely to happen. The interior will be made of good quality materials. As usual, the higher the trim, the better the quality will be.
While the overall look will not change that much, the infotainment system should be updated and there should be more safety features included. The size of the screen display for the infotainment system will depend on the trim level. Just like previous models, the 2020 model is likely to use the Ford Sync 3 as the infotainment system. GPS and Bluetooth will also be available.
Engine Specs & Fuel Economy
The 2018 Ford F-150 got engine upgrades. The new base engine is a 3.3L V6 engine. Other engine options are also available: 2.7L V6 EcoBoost, 3.0L Power Stroke V6 diesel, and 5.0L V8 engines. The 2019 Ford F-150 carries over the engines of the 2018 model. This is not a surprise given that upgrade has been done for 2018.
Now, what about the 2020 Ford F-150? The engine of the 2020 model is still a mystery. While Ford has not announced what kind of engines the 2020 F-150 will use, Ford does promise that the engines will be more efficient. Also, there will be hybrid engines as well.
Since the engine upgrade is quite recent, we expect that the 2020 F-150 is likely to be powered by the same engines as the 2019 and 2018 model. The base engine is likely to be a 3.3L V6 engine with some tweaks to make it more efficient. The same engine is likely to be used for the hybrid models as well. The difference is that it will be paired with a battery.
Light-duty trucks are known to perform badly in safety tests. The 2018 F-150, on the other hand, is an exception. It earned Top Safety Pick for the crew-cab and extended-cab configurations. As good as it is, the downside of the truck lies on its headlight, which is not that good. We expect the upcoming 2020 Ford F-150 to have at least the same rating as the 2018 model. It should be more, though, considering modern cars are getting safer and safer.
