2020 Suzuki Swift Hybrid Design

Design is not the first thing that appears in mind when we talk about hatchbacks. While the design may not be not as important as in the other types of vehicles, having a good look is never bad. And for a hatchback, the Swift certainly has a good look.

We don’t expect any change in terms of design, both for the exterior and interior, for the upcoming Swift Hybrid. It is more likely to be a carryover model. That is, it will have more or less the same design as the current model. That being said, expect the new Swift Hybrid to come with several tweaks and updates for its design.

2020 Suzuki Swift Hybrid Engine Specs

The most important thing about a hybrid vehicle is, obviously, its engine. So, what kind of engine will power the 2020 Suzuki Swift Hybrid? Unfortunately, not much is known about the engine for the upcoming Swift Hybrid.

While currently not much is yet known about the engine, we can use the current model’s engine to guess what kind of engine Suzuki will use for the new model. There is also the fact that Suzuki sells different versions of Swift depending on the country.

For example, the Japanese Swift Hybrid has an output of 91 horsepower with 87 Nm of torque, the U.K. Swift Hybrid has an output of 112 horsepower with 125 lb-ft of torque and the Indian Swift Hybrid has a fewer output, numbering 83 horsepower with 83 Nm of torque.

The engine used for these Swift Hybrid versions is different as well. The Japanese version uses a K12C, 1.2-liter petrol engine, the U.K. version uses a 1.2-liter, four-cylinder engine and the Indian version uses a 1.197-liter, K12B engine.

There is also a rumor that suggests the upcoming Indian version of Swift Hybrid will use a 658-cc, three-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 74 horsepower. The output may be smaller but it is a good enough number, considering the low displacement engine.

What we do know is that the engine is going to be integrated with a battery pack. Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Vehicle, better known as SHVS, is likely to make an appearance as well.

What is unique about SHVS is that the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine is paired with a battery pack, which getting recharged with the energy coming from under brakes. It also has an integrated generator, which allows this recharging process possible.

We can’t say for sure which engine will be carried over for the 2020 Swift Hybrid. Will some of them being carried over? Or perhaps all of them will be carried over?  As of now, we can only wait for Suzuki’s announcement for the engine.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy is undoubtedly one of the most important things about a hybrid car. Of course, the hybrid version of Swift is not an exception. Right now, there is no official detail regarding the fuel economy of the upcoming hybrid model. The 2019 version has a mileage of 32 kilometers per liter. The 2020 version should at least have the same mileage. If there are updates and tweaks for the engine, the fuel economy may be increased.

2020 Suzuki Swift Hybrid Release Date and Price Range

There is no confirmed release date and price for the 2020 Suzuki Swift Hybrid yet. What we do know for sure is that there will be a 2020 hybrid model of Swift. Since it is meant to be a 2020 hybrid model, we expect to see it somewhere in early 2020, probably between January and April.

As for the price, we don’t expect any significant price hike for the upcoming Swift Hybrid. There may be a slight increase in the price, but the 2020 Swift Hybrid will still have the more or less the same price range as the current model. We expect the price range to be between $15,990 and $27,490.
