2020 Peugeot 508: Redesign, Specs, i-Cockpit, Price & More – Back in 2018, the Peugeot 508 surprised many people with its new appearance. The first second-generation in the lineup has a more compact structure and is slightly shorter than its predecessors. What the 2018 model has is carried on by the 2019 model. The 2019 model, just as the 2018 model, impresses many with its appearance, capability, and reliability.
Soon, we are going to see the next iteration of the lineup, the 2020 Peugeot 508. The questions are, will it carry on what the 2019 model comes with? If there is any redesign, what kind of redesign will it get? What about performance and safety features? If you want to know the answers, you’d want to read on. We will answer those questions with what we know.

2020 Peugeot 508 Redesign
A major redesign happens once every few years in a lineup. For the upcoming 2020 Peugeot 508, we don’t expect a major redesign to happen soon. Why? Because the Peugeot 508 has just entered its second generation with the 2018 model. Since the lineup has got redesigned just recently, we are not likely to see any major redesign in the lineup.
We don’t think a major redesign is needed, either. At least not in a few years. The reason is that the 508 already has a good look. It appears bold, stylish and aggressive, a fitting look to be a 2020 car. For the 2020 model, we expect the look to be emphasized further with some modern touch here and there.
Exterior Restyling
The previous Peugeot 508 came with an energetic and expressive vibe. It is shorter than its predecessor and has aerodynamic lines that resemble the coupe style. Apparently, this exterior is carried on to the new model. It is hardly surprising if the 2020 model will carry on the exterior as well. The 2018 model is the first in the lineup second-generation iteration. We can say that the 2018 model became the “base” for its successors.
Assuming that 2020 508 carries the same exterior as the previous models, the front end will have an impressive, finely fashioned and aggressive look. The front end has LED headlights, chrome plate on the radiator grill and sharp yet slender running lights. The rear end, on the other hand, comes with Peugeot’s current signature: black horizontal stripes. Peugeot truly does use its knowledge to make the lineup appealing and has good quality.
So, in short, the 2020 Peugeot 508 will resemble its predecessors. That being said, we can expect some small changes and refresh on the style. As a 2020 model, it will not be a surprise if it will get more emphasis on the lines.
Interior Updates
The same goes for the interior. We are not likely to see major changes here. While there will be no major changes, it does not necessarily mean that the upcoming 2020 Peugeot 508 will be bad. On the contrary, the lineup already has an excellent interior. Again, we can see it from the previous model.
Peugeot’s i-Cockpit is used for the new model. We expect the 2020 model to receive it as well given that the dashboard layout has become increasingly familiar for the customers. There will be a 12-inch configurable display and an 8-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. The interior’s materials have good quality and there is enough storage space.
Performance
There are five engine options for the 2019 Peugeot 508. Three of these options are diesel engines while the other two are petrol engines. Since these engines are more than capable of doing their tasks, we don’t expect they will be replaced for the 2020 Peugeot 508. Expect the engines are likely to be carried on for the 2020 model.
The five engine options are one 1.5L diesel engine, two 1.6L petrol engines, and 2.0L diesel engines. All of these engines are paired with auto transmission gearbox as the standard. All engines offer three driving modes: Normal, Eco, Comfort, and Sport. The 2019 model receives a hybrid variant several months after its debut. We don’t know whether the 2020 model will receive the same plug-in but it is possible.
Safety Features
The 2019 Peugeot 508 comes with a lot of safety features. The general trend is that a new model will either carry on the features of its immediate precursor or replace it with better features. The 2019 mode has the following features: adaptive cruise control, active blind-spot monitor system, traffic sign recognition, speed limit recognition, high beam assist, driver attention alert, lane keeping assist, and active safety brake. We expect the 2020 model to carry on these features.
2020 Peugeot 508 Price & Release date
So far, Peugeot has not yet revealed the release date of the upcoming 2020 Peugeot 508. That being said, we can expect it to enter the market somewhere in 2019. We do realize that it is quite possible that the upcoming 508 will be released in early 2020 but we think it is unlikely. After all, it is designed to be a 2020 model.
In terms of price, the price of the 2020 model should not be too different from the price of the 2019 model. In other words, the price of 2020 508 is likely in the $43,000 range. If we assume there will be more features included, the price will increase although it will not be that much.
Verdict
As far as we know, the upcoming 2020 Peugeot 508 will not veer off too much from its predecessors. The appearance and capability of the 2020 model will be more or less the same with the 2019 model. That being said, we can expect the 2020 model to get some updates, refresh, and more features. It should be able to bring at least the same level of comfort, capability, and safety as the 2019 model. Hopefully, it can bring more. What do you think?
