2020 Nissan X-Trail New Model: Specs, Price, Release Date

2020 Nissan X-Trail | Nissan X-Trail has been in the market for almost two decades. Since the lineup has survived for quite a long time, we can say that it has produced many superior SUVs compared to its competitors. And, with the SUV market being more and more competitive, we can expect Nissan to improve the X-Trail lineup.

2020 Nissan X-Trail Redesign

Don’t expect the 2020 Nissan X-Trail to get redesigned. The Nissan X-Trail lineup has just got redesigned, which we can see in the Previous Nissan X-Trail. More likely than not, the upcoming X-Trail will continue these features.  Although we don’t expect a major redesign for the 2020 X-Trail, it should get small changes and updates. The X-Trail can benefit from changes and updates that make it an even more modern family SUV.

Exterior Facelift

We expect the exterior of the upcoming X-Trail will mostly be the same as the Previous X-Trail’s. With the redesign of the Previous X-Trail, now the X-Trail doesn’t look like a serious off-roader with a boxy design. The Previous X-Trail comes with V-motion grille, new headlights, and a slight redesign for its rear-end. It looks sleek, sporty, and modern.

Now that the look is one of X-Trail’s strengths, we don’t think the lineup will get redesigned for a few years and especially not for the 2020 X-Trail.  Despite this, the exterior can still be improved. For instance, by adding sharper lines to make it look more modern.

2020 Nissan X-Trail Interior

Similar to the exterior, we don’t expect the interior to be changed drastically as well. The interior will look nice with decent space for everyone, the layout is well-designed, and there will be lots of quality materials inside. There should be a decent cargo space. For the Previous X-Trail, the higher the trim level, the larger the cabin is. This will not be different for the 2020 X-Trail.

For a family SUV, so far the interior of the X-Trail is decent and not disappointing. Especially in the higher trim level, in which there is more space available, including even a space for a dog. The 2020 X-Trail should at least be a family SUV that is as good as its predecessors.

2020 Nissan X-Trail Specs & Performance

It seems the 2020 Nissan X-Trail will continue to use the same engines as the Previous Nissan X-Trail. In other words, it will have the following engine options: a 1.6L dCi diesel engine, a 1.6L DIG-T petrol engine, and a 2.0L dCi diesel engine.

In terms of power, the 1.6L dCi diesel engine is capable of delivering up to 128 horsepower, the 1.6L DIG-T petrol is capable of delivering up to 161 horsepower, while the 2.0L dCi diesel engine is capable delivering up to 175 horsepower.

As for transmission and system, the engines above are paired with either a six-speed CVT automatic transmission or a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. They are available in two or all-wheel drive system.

Since the 2020 X-Trail is likely to carry the same engine options, it will also have more or less the same configurations as the Previous X-Trail. The upcoming X-Trail will be more than capable to do its task as a family SUV. We expect it to be able to provide a comfortable ride on road and perform decently off-road.

Features

In most cases, the features of a new iteration are not that different from its direct predecessor. There are changes and updates, of course. We can safely say that the 2020 X-Trail will inherit most, if not all, of the features of the Previous X-Trail.

The 2020 X-Trail should come with the following features as standard: 17-inch wheels, a 5.0-inch touchscreen display with the up-to-date infotainment system, cloth-wrapped seating, smart key entry, cruise control, a reversing camera, smartphone integration (using NissanConnect), and an audio system.

2020 Nissan X-Trail Interior Updates

More features such as 19-inch wheels, a 7.0-inch touchscreen display, leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel satellite navigation, power-adjustable, heated front seats, Around View Monitor, dual-zone air-conditioning, LED headlights, wipers with rain detection, and intelligent cruise control should be available for the higher trim levels.

Safety

As a family SUV, it is a must for the X-Trail to be safe to ride. The 2020 X-Trail should come with safety features such as six airbags, Intelligent Trace Control, Intelligent Ride Control, and automatic emergency braking as standard. With these as standard safety features, even the basic trim level has a decent safety level. The higher trim levels, of course, will be even safer.

As usual, the higher the trim level is, the more safety features will be included. For the upcoming X-Trail, other safety features such as blind-spot warning, moving object detection, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and prevention will be available for the higher trim levels.

2020 Nissan X-Trail Release Date and Price

Nissan has yet to announce when will the 2020 Nissan X-Trail enter the market. While there is no official announcement so far, we can expect the upcoming X-Trail to be released somewhere in the second half of 2019 or early 2020 at the latest.

It is also the same for the price. So far, there is no official statement about how much the price of the upcoming X-Trail will be. However, we can use the price of the previous model to base our expectation on. The starting price of the Previous X-Trail is around $28,490. The price of the 2020 X-Trail should not be too different from that number although price increase is expected.
