2020 BMW M2 Competition Design

In terms of design, there is no significant change in the new M2 Competition. The lack of change is not something to be frowned upon, though. The Competition trim used to be a higher-end trim. Now, it has become the standard trim. You can expect it to come with many excellent aspects. Yes, including the design.

While the M2 Competition is a performance-focused coupe, the design is far from neglected. If anything, we can say that it is among the best-looking coupes out there. The design looks sleek, modern, and of course, stylish. It is not surprising if many consider it as one of the best of M-Series BMW has to offer.

At the front, you can see its unique grilles (two above, and three below) with BMW trademark logo above it, slim, slit-like headlights, and defined lines, curves, and openings. Due to these design elements, M2 Competition looks stylish and aggressive at the same time.

At the rear, the taillights are placed on the outer edge of both sides. And just like the front end, there are defined lines, curves, and openings here as well, though not as many and noticeable as those at the front.

Just like the previous M2 models, the M2 Competition can accommodate four adult passengers comfortably. There is enough room for everyone. The leather upholstery makes the ride comfortable even for a long period. The cargo space is neither too large nor too small. It is decent for a coupe.

Engine Specs & Performance

What is under the hood of the 2020 BMW M2 Competition? The M2 Competition uses the same engine as the M2 predecessor. It is powered by a 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline-six engine. This engine is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission as the standard and a 7-speed, dual-clutch auto transmission as optional.

As for the output, the engine can deliver a whopping 405 horsepower with 406 lb-ft of torque. Yes, the engine is that powerful. And for a coupe, these numbers are certainly high. Not many coupes have such a powerful engine. The fuel economy of the M2 Competition is estimated to be 18 mpg for city and 25 mpg for highway.

While many of BMW’s models already adopt the all-wheel-drive drivetrain as standard, the M2 Competition hasn’t. It still comes equipped with the rear-wheel-drive drivetrain. It is among the few BMW models that haven’t moved on to the all-wheel-drive drivetrain.

Features

For a coupe, the new M2 Competition sure does come with a wide array of features. These features include an 8.8-inch display with an infotainment system, a heated steering wheel, passive keyless entry, automatic climate control, a mirror with an auto-dimming feature, power-adjustable front seats (equipped with driver memory), carbon fiber trim, and black Dakota leather with orange or blue stitching.

There are also various driver aids as well. Among these aids are adaptive cruise control, automatic high beaming, parking sensors, adaptive LED headlights, lane departure warning, rain-sensing wipers, automatic engine start and stop system, and Apple CarPlay.

2020 BMW M2 Competition Pricing

How much does the M2 cost? The BMW M2 is only available in one trim: Competition. The starting price of the Competition trim is around $58,900. This is the base price. The cost of additional features and packages is not included.

With under $60,000 base price, BMW offers buyers with various benefits. For example, there are powertrain and bumper to bumper warranty for the first 50,000 miles or 48 months. There is also roadside assistance benefit for the first 48 months with unlimited distance.
