2021 Ford Mustang: Concept, Specs, Price & Release Date – The Ford Mustang lineup has been in the market for many years. We can see this as an indication of the lineup’s qualities. After all, it will not be able to survive this long if it doesn’t have excellent qualities. So far, the lineup is able to provide us with a comfortable ride, good handling, excellent performance, and safety.

2021 Ford Mustang Redesign

The Mustang lineup just got redesigned back in 2015. Since then, there is no major redesign that the lineup gets other than some updates here and there. It is possible that the 2021 Ford Mustang will get a major redesign but we don’t expect it to happen. The reason is that the lineup has a good look already and there is no need to fix something that is not broken.

Exterior

While a major redesign is unlikely, there will be some changes in the exterior. Since the 2021 Mustang is meant to be a 2021 model, we can expect it to carry on the 2019 exterior with various emphasizes.

The Current Mustang has one of the best stylish looks in the segment. It has LED lighting as standard, a quite long roof as well as fitting haunches. Granted, the mouth of the car does not have the best look but it is far from off-putting. For 2021, we may see some changes such as more sharp and defining lines on the exterior and maybe some changes for the front-end, particularly the mouth.

2021 Ford Mustang Interior & Features

Also, as good as it is, the Mustang lineup does come with some bad design. This is especially true for its interior. While the front seating is very comfortable, the rear seating is a bit cramped. We can see this in the Previous model.

Similar to the exterior, the 2021 Ford Mustang is likely to carry on what the Previous model has. In other words, the two cars will look quite similar. While there may not be significant changes in the interior, we do expect Ford to fix the rear seating part. Ford has the experience in giving a dramatic look inside the Mustang lineup. They should bring it back for the 2021 model as it will be fitting for a modern car.

2021 Ford Mustang Engine Specs & Performance

Now let’s talk about performance. The Previous Ford Mustang is known to have quite nimble performance even for the base model. Compared to its predecessors, the handling of the Previous model is far superior. For the 2021 Ford Mustang, we expect at least the same.

In terms of engine, we don’t expect the 2021 model to get a new one. Ford has just replaced the V6 engine in the lineup just recently. As such, a new change is unlikely to happen. This shouldn’t be a problem, though, considering the replacement engine for the Previous model is great.

The Previous Ford Mustang comes with a 2.3L turbocharged-4 engine. This engine is capable of producing up to 310 horsepower with 350 lb-ft of torque. Paired with a 10-speed auto transmission gearbox, this engine is able to provide crisp yet predictable shifts regardless of the current mode used (there are Normal and Sports modes) by the driver.

There is also a 5.0L V8 engine albeit it is limited to the GT trim level. The V8 engine is very powerful, capable of delivering an output of 460 horsepower with 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also paired with a 10-speed auto transmission gearbox.

For the 2021 model, we expect the same engines will be used. In other words, the base trim level will get the 2.3L turbocharged-4 engine while the GT trim level will get the 5.0L V8 engine. Expect these engines to get some tweak here and there.

Safety

The Mustang lineup is known as one of the safest lineups in the segment. According to NHTSA, the Previous Mustang has an excellent overall rating. It also has good crash-test scores as well as various safety features, too.

The 2021 Ford Mustang GT should not be different. If anything, it should have at least the same safety level as the Current Mustang. The Previous Mustang comes with LED headlights, automatic emergency braking, a warning system for forward-collision and a knee airbag. We expect the 2021 model to have these safety features.

2021 Ford Mustang Release Date and Price

Unfortunately, Ford has not informed us of the release date and price of the upcoming 2021 Ford Mustang. In other words, we can only guess. Considering the fact that the upcoming Mustang is going to be a 2021 model, we can expect it to enter the market somewhere in 2019 at the earliest and 2020 at the latest.

As for the price, we believe it will not be too different from the price of the current model. The current model’s starting price is in the $24,000 range for the base model. The starting price of the 2021 model should be in the same range although we expect there will be a slight increase.

Closing

The Mustang lineup is great. So far, the lineup is able to provide us with a comfortable ride, a good handling, excellent performance, and safety. With the Previous Ford Mustang provides these things and more, we expect the 2021 Ford Mustang GT to be able to do at least the same and hopefully, even better. What do you think?
