2020 Subaru XV Redesign & Updates

The Subaru XV lineup has received a redesign in 2018. As such, it is very unlikely we will see major changes for the 2020 model. The usual trend is that a major change happens once in a few years. Since the Subaru XV lineup received one recently, it is unlikely to happen for the 2020 model. That being said, we can expect some small changes and updates here and there. It is, after all, meant to be a 2020 crossover compact SUV.

The Current model comes with enough space for four passengers and their luggage, height-adjustable front seats, decent legroom for the rear passengers, and foldable rear seating that can give additional cargo space if needed.

Engine Specs, Fuel Economy & Performance

What kind of engine will the 2020 Subaru XV get? We expect the 2020 model will not get a new engine. Instead, it will carry on what the Current model has. The Current model is powered by a 2.L engine capable of delivering up to 152 horsepower with 145 lb-ft of torque. As a compact crossover SUV, this output is considered underpowered. However, it is capable of doing any task for a compact crossover SUV. We expect the same for the 2020 XV.

The 2.0L engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission for the Base and Premium trim levels and a CVT optional gearbox for the Limited trims. These transmission gearboxes, unfortunately, can’t help in increasing the power of the compact crossover SUV. While that is true, the upside is that the XV has good handling and a comfortable ride. The steering is accurate and the suspension feels quite soft.

The above will be more or less the same for the 2020 XV, assuming engine changes don’t happen. Hopefully, Subaru will improve the output of the engine by upgrading and/or tweaking the engine while keeping the advantages it provides.

Features

The Subaru XV usually offers value for the money. It seems we can see the same for the 2020 Subaru XV, too. This should not be a surprise considering the fact that the compact crossover SUV segment is very competitive. The question is, what kind of features will the upcoming XV have?

The Current XV comes in three trim levels: Base, Premium, and Limited trim levels. The Base trim level comes with features such as a 6.5-inch display, seat-adjustable seating, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, air conditioning, Bluetooth and a USB port. These are the standard features.

The Premium trim level comes with all the standard features plus a better exterior and interior design, fog lights, heated front seats, a steering wheel wrapped in leather, satellite radio, two USB ports on the rear seat, and additional speakers. The Limited trim level also comes with the standard features plus 18-inch wheels, a larger display, keyless ignition, auto climate controls, leather upholstery, and adjustable seat.

2020 Subaru XV Release Date and Price

So far, there is no official announcement from Subaru regarding the release date of the New Subaru XV. Although no one knows exactly when the upcoming XV will enter the market we can expect it to see it released somewhere in 2020. It is meant to be a 2020 model, after all. Release in 2020 is possible but we don’t think it is likely to happen.

The same goes for the price. There is no official statement yet. Unlike the release date, we can predict the price more accurately. Since a new model’s price will not be too different from its immediate predecessor, we predict the 2020 Subaru XV’s price to be in the $20,000 range for the base model.
