2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Review, Specs, Pricing
2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Hybrid | The Outlander lineup is going to have a new iteration soon. Indeed, just a few months from now, we will see the New Outlander. Of course, we will see the PHEV model, too. Are you interested in the upcoming 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV? If you are, you should read on. Below, we will tell you about the upcoming crossover’s redesign, engine, features, release date, and price.
2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Redesign Exterior & Interior
The lineup hasn’t received any redesign for several years now. It is time for it to get some redesign to make it a modern crossover SUV. Here’s good news: Mitsubishi is redesigning the lineup for the 2020 model year. That’s right. The 2020 Outlander PHEV won’t be a carryover model. It will have its own new design. What kind of exterior will it have? What about the inside? Let’s get to each.
First and foremost, the exterior. The only thing that the 2020 Outlander PHEV has in common with the current model in terms of exterior look is its compact size. Other than that, not so much. It will be quite different from the current Outlander PHEV.
Rather than carrying over the design of the current Outlander PHEV, the new model will take many styling cues of Mitsubishi vehicles. At the front, we will see Dynamic Shield, widened headlights, a grille with two slats, fog lights, and a semi-circular surround. At the back, the taillights will have LED lighting and new graphics, a liftgate with upright angle, and faux air outlets on the bumper. Quite drastic, indeed.
Unlike the exterior, the interior isn’t going to change drastically. Most of the styling cues of the current Outlander PHEV will be carried over to the new model. That being said, the inside is going to be at least as comfortable as the current model with some updates and tweaks here and there. This will be particularly true for the higher trims.
What about the engine? According to a report, the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be powered by the combination of a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and a Li-ion battery pack. With this engine combination, the Outlander PHEV is estimated to have an output of up to 197 horsepower.
There are two other engines planned to be used on the Outlander lineup. The base engine is a 2.4-liter, inline-four engine capable of delivering up to 166 horsepower. The larger engine is a 3.0-liter, V6 engine with an output of 224 horsepower.
In terms of output, the Outlander PHEV is more powerful than the basic engine but less powerful than the larger engine. For a crossover SUV, the output is quite decent. It is certainly capable of handling the daily tasks of a crossover SUV.
The upcoming Outlander PHEV should come with many modern features. For example, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, a sound system, an 8-inch display with an infotainment system, USB ports and more should be available.
While we may not know which features will be available for which trim level, we can safely say that more features should be available on the higher trim level and/or packages. This is the general trend and the upcoming Outlander PHEV shouldn’t be an exception to it.
2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Release Date and Price
Currently, Mitsubishi hasn’t revealed the exact release date of the Outlander PHEV. What we know so far about the release date is that it will enter the market somewhere in September 2019. If you are an avid fan of the lineup, there is no need to worry. The wait shouldn’t be that long.
As for the price, we expect it will be in the same price range as the current Outlander PHEV. The starting price of the base model of the current Outlander is around $25,000. Expect the price of the upcoming Outlander PHEV to be a bit more expensive than that. After all, the higher the trim level and the more features included, the more expensive the price will be.
That’s what we know so far about the upcoming 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The lineup hasn’t received a redesign for quite some time. That is until the 2020 Outlander PHEV arrives this September. We expect the new Outlander PHEV to be as capable, reliable and comfortable as its predecessors. What do you think?
