2020 Mercedes A-Class Redesign

In terms of styling, the A-Class sedan is just what you expect from a Mercedes vehicle: stylish, sleek, modern, and charming. The A-Class sedan is unique. While it has a minimalist yet flowing design elements, its sides have a distinguishing line across the sides.

At the front, there are angular LED headlights and a trapezoid grille with the Mercedes logo in the middle. At the rear, there are straight angular taillights, defined lines, curves, and other shapes. With these design elements, you can just tell the A-Class sedan is a luxury car at first sight.

That’s the exterior styling. What about the inside? Apparently, the interior styling is as beautiful as the exterior. The interior is made of premium quality materials, the dashboard is dominated by the touchscreen display which controls the vehicle, media, ventilation and instrument settings.

The interior styling is just amazing. Even the air vents look amazing, too. There are five turbine-like air vents. Three air vents are at the center, one at the left, and one at the right. While these air vents may seem insignificant for the styling, they surely add a modern and sophisticated touch.

While looks are the main focus of the styling, practicality is not neglected. In the center console, there are two cupholders, between the seats, there are an armrest or lidded bin (with two USB ports no less), a glove box, and door pockets with enough space to hold bottles. To top it all, the sedan has large cargo volume, totaling 430 liters. Beautiful and practical styling.

Engine Specs & Performance

All trims of the 2020 Mercedes A-Class sedan is powered by the same engine: a 2.0-liter, inline-four turbocharged gasoline engine. This engine comes with a seven-speed auto transmission. This engine can deliver up to 188 horsepower with 221 lb-ft of torque. It has 0 to 60 mph time of 7.1 seconds.

While the same engine is used for both A220 and A2204Matic trims, the drivetrain is different. The A220 trim comes with the front-wheel-drive drivetrain while the A220 4Matic comes with the all-wheel-drive drivetrain.

The engine’s output may seem small at a glance but that is not true. First, the A-Class sedan is among the smallest cars Mercedes has. Due to this, large power output is not necessary. Second, the engine is more than capable of doing any luxury sedan tasks and routines. Power is rarely the focus for luxury cars and A-Class sedan is certainly a luxury car.

There are lots of features that the new A-Class sedan comes equipped with. Yes, even without any additional package. These standards features include a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality, power seats, climate controls (dual-zone), OTA software updates, and a panoramic sunroof, among others.

The Mercedes A-Class sedan is a new lineup, first released this year. As such, it is understandable that the new 2020 Mercedes A-Class sedan doesn’t differ too much from the predecessor. The lack of change is not necessarily a bad thing, of course. So far, the A-Class sedan has proven its high quality. It has a stylish and charming design, a capable engine, various features, and amenities. Overall, it is a great sedan.
