2020 Hyundai Verna Facelift, Specs, Price & Release Date
What We Know So Far About the 2020 Hyundai Verna – Hyundai Verna subcompact car (also known as Accent) has been proven its quality and capability for many years. It shouldn’t be surprising at all if it is considered among the best in its segment. Soon enough, we will welcome its new member: the New Hyundai Verna. What kind of subcompact the upcoming Verna will be? Here are the details that we know so far about the upcoming Verna.
2020 Hyundai Verna Redesign
The new Verna has been unveiled at the 2019 Chengdu Motor Show in China. The new Verna features a more aggressive design and edgy look. At the front, there are design elements like a chiseled bumper, a fascia with a chrome finish and a sharper and larger headlight. The more aggressive design and edgy look are carried on to the rear as well. At the rear, the bumper has a chrome garnish surrounding it and taillights that connect to the tailgate. The alloy wheels come with a new design, too.
The exterior is aggressive and edgy. What about the interior? The interior is utilitarian, practical, and comfortable. It is full of good quality materials, decent cargo space, and easy-to-access center console. At the console, there is a large touchscreen display with Hyundai’s infotainment system, with which many settings can be adjusted. As for the digital instrument cluster, it is placed just behind the steering wheel, making it easily accessible.
There will be more than one powertrain option for the 2020 Hyundai Verna available. As of now, the only confirmed engines are new petrol and diesel engines, which will replace the current engine options. These engines are a 1.5-liter petrol engine, which replaces the current 1.4-liter petrol engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, which replaces the current 1.6-liter diesel engine.
How much power do the engines deliver? In terms of power, both engines are decent. Both engines deliver have the same horsepower, estimated to be around 115 horsepower. The difference is in the torque. In this aspect, the diesel is the better option of the two. While the petrol engine has a torque of 106 lb-ft, the diesel has 184 lb-ft.
What about the transmission? Some reports that the new Verna will have three transmission options: a six-speed manual, a six-speed CVT for the petrol engine, and a six-speed torque convertor for the diesel engine.
In terms of ride and handling, the Verna lineup has been known to be comfortable and smooth. It shouldn’t be different for the upcoming Verna. If anything, it should be even more comfortable and smooth.
Some reports suggest the new Verna will have a plug-in hybrid engine option. At the moment, Hyundai hasn’t confirmed yet whether these reports are true or not. What we do know for sure is that a plug-in hybrid option is not off the table. Green engines are becoming the trend right now. Many automakers have included hybrid engine options for their vehicles and who knows, Hyundai might do the same for the upcoming Verna.
Now for the features. Features such as a 5.0-inch touchscreen display, an audio system with four speakers, a USB port, Bluetooth will be the standard. A larger 7.0-inch touchscreen display, additional features, and amenities like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, automatic climate control, a sunroof, and more USB ports and speakers should be available as optional.
2020 Hyundai Verna Release Date and Price
At the moment, Hyundai hasn’t given the release date and price of the new Verna. While there isn’t any detail of the exact date, Hyundai planned the new Verna to be released in early 2020. That means we are going to see it sooner than later.
The exact price isn’t known yet. Unlike the release date, however, we can guesstimate the price based on the current model’s price. We expect the starting price of the upcoming Verna to be around $15,000 for the base model and around $19,000 for the top model.
These are what we know so far about the 2020 Hyundai Verna. So far, the Verna lineup has been able to prove itself to be one of the best in the subcompact segment. Thus, we can expect the upcoming Verna to be at least as good as the current model. Considering the changes that the 2020 model receives, it might be better than its predecessor but we can’t say that for sure until it is released. We can only wait for now.
