Peugeot Expert Van Review Performance and Fuel Economy

Are you a fan of Peugeot Expert van? If you are, we have good news for you: the lineup has just got a new member. That’s right. The French automaker has just released the 2020 Peugeot Expert van. Now the question is, what kind of a van the new Expert is? How are the design, engines, and features? And most importantly, how much does it cost? Read on. The answers are below.

2020 Peugeot Expert Van Redesign Exterior and Interior

Let’s start with the most visible part first: the exterior design. How does it look like, especially for a van? The new van has a chic-look to it, which hides the van’s overall size excellently. Although it wouldn’t be among the best-looking vehicles, it is surprisingly good-looking for a van. And it all thanks to its aggressive grille, enormous headlights, and well-contained overhangs at its front and rear.

The French automaker offers two variants of Expert van based on their overall length. The first variant is has a total length of 4.95 meters. This variant is also known as Short Wheelbase or SWB for short. The second variant is slightly longer, with a total length of 5.3 meters. This second variant is called Longer Wheelbase or LWB.

As there are two length-based variants, you might wonder how the SWB fares against its LWB counterpart. As it turns out, even the shorter variant has a decent interior in terms of looks, practicality, and level of comfort.

Speaking of dimensions, the SWB has 3.67 meters of cargo length, versus LWB’s 4.02 meters. Space in-between the arches is measured to be 1.26 meters with an overall height of 1.9 meters for SWB and 1.94 meters of LWB.

The interior has enough space for passengers and items, including practical spaces like cup holders, armrest that doubles as a workspace, as well as decent quality materials for a comfortable ride.

Engines Specs

The 2020 Peugeot Expert van is available in two engine options a 1.6-liter, turbocharged diesel, and a 2.0-liter, turbocharged diesel engines. As you might have expected, the 1.6-liter engine is the standard while the 2.0-liter one is optional.

The 1.6-liter base engine has an output of 113 horsepower with 221 lb-ft of torque, while the optional engine has two different outputs depending on the configuration: 147 horsepower with272 lb-ft of torque for the middle engine variants, and 174 horsepower with 295 lb-ft of torque for the high-end engine variant.

As for the transmission, the base- and middle-level variants are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox while the middle- and top-level variants are also available with a 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox as well as paddle shifters and a rotary shift dial.

Features

In terms of features, the new Expert surely is well-equipped. It comes equipped with lots of standard features. And yes, since many of the features are standard, they are offered to all models regardless of the chosen body length or engine. Of course, these cross-modal features make the Expert van an interesting choice as you don’t have to pick a certain body length or engine just to get the features you want.

Parking sensors (front and rear), remote keyless entry, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, automatic windows (up and down), a 7.0-inch infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and daytime running lights are among the standard features included. And there are still many more.

2020 Peugeot Expert Van Price

The price of the new Expert van varies. However, rather than depending on the models or trim levels like most vehicles are, the price variance depends on the engine chosen and its length (for the middle engine variant only). This is because the French automaker wants to keep things simple. The pricing is as follow:

  • Base SWB, The starting price is around $24,649 (on-road costs not included).
  • SWB Manual, The starting price is around $27,013.
  • SWB Auto, The starting price is around $28,702.
  • LWB Auto, The starting price is around $29,850.

Closing

That is our review of the new Peugeot Expert van. It has a good-looking exterior design, practical and comfortable interior, lots of engine options (and length), and an abundance of standard features regardless of engine and length chosen. Compared to many of its competitors in the segment, the new Expert certainly stands out. Overall, the new Peugeot Expert is an excellent van.
