2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Facelift

2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Facelift: Things We Know So Far | Alfa Romeo has a large following across the globe. After all, the manufacturer has been producing iconic vehicles for decades now. In recent years the Italian automaker has increased the number of sales. One of the causes of this significant sales increase is its new crossover, the Stelvio.

While the Stelvio is still very young as a lineup, it is very popular. Is that surprising? Not really. The Stelvio has proven itself to be not just a good-looking crossover SUV but also a very reliable one. Soon enough, we will see its upcoming iteration: the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Want to know more about the 2020 Stelvio? Just read on.

2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Redesign

The Stelvio is still in its early days. It debuted back in 2017 and has yet to enter a mid-cycle refresh. A mid-cycle refresh usually happens once in a few years or so. And for the lineup, it is still too early to get a refresh. There may be small changes here and there, but nothing will be significant enough to alter the crossover’s looks.

Since major design changes are unlikely, the 2020 Stelvio will keep most of the design language of the current Stelvio. On the exterior, it will look sleek, stylish, and sophisticated. Looks is usually not the top priority of an SUV, but the Stelvio is an exception as the released models have proven so far. For 2020, we can expect the upcoming model to have a look that is fitting for a modern 2020 crossover SUV.

Likewise, the interior will stay mostly the same as well. However, unlike the exterior, the interior of the current Stelvio is not as good-looking as the exterior. The quality of the interior is sub-par as well. This is one among several aspects that Alfa Romeo can improve upon for the Stelvio lineup.

The Stelvio has been a success for Alfa Romeo. If the Italian automaker wants the lineup to survive, it has to improve the lineup’s interior materials so the crossover SUV not just look good outside but also inside. Comfort is another aspect that can be improved as well. Will the 2020 Stelvio get a better interior to become a more comfortable crossover SUV? We expect it to be so.

Engine Specs

The Stelvio has two trims: base and performance. Both the base and performance trim has its own engine. On one hand, the base trim is powered by a 2.0-liter, turbocharged inline-four engine with an output of 280 horsepower with 306 lb-ft of torque. On the other, the performance trim has a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine capable of delivering a whopping 505 horsepower with 443 lb-ft of torque.

Considering the Stelvio is still fresh, being debuted in 2017, we don’t expect the 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio to get a new engine. If there is any change to what is under the hood, it would be tweaks or updates that improve the performance slightly. Anything other than that is very unlikely.

Features

In terms of features, the Stelvio so far hasn’t shown anything extraordinary. At best, it has decent features with better and premium features mostly come as either as optional or standard on the performance trim.

We expect more features to be available as standard for the 2020 Stelvio. The reason is that the SUV market is very competitive. If the Stelvio is to survive and thrive, it has to offer at least the same standard features.

2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Release Date and Price

When the 2020 Stelvio will hit the market is currently unknown as Alfa Rome has yet to announce it. While there isn’t any official date of release given yet, we can expect the 2020 Stelvio to enter the market either in later this year or early 2020 at the latest.

As for the price, it shouldn’t be too different from the price of the 2019 Stelvio. The current base trim Stelvio’s price is around $40,000 while the performance trim is north of $80,000. The price of the 2020 trims should be more or less in the same range.

Verdict

These are the things we know so far about the upcoming 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Overall, it should be just as good-looking and reliable as its predecessor. The main issue with Stelvio is its interior quality, which many consider as sub-par. Will the Italian automaker improve it for the 2020 Stelvio? Only time will tell.
