2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Dimensions
A Japanese report regarding the upcoming Land Cruiser suggests that the SUV will use a different chassis. As a result, it will have different dimensions from the current Land Cruiser. According to the report, the upcoming Land Cruiser will have dimensions of

- Width: 77.9 inches
- Height: 75.6 inches
- Wheelbase: 112.2 inches
What do these numbers mean? Compared to the current Land Cruiser, the upcoming Land Cruiser is 0.1 in shorter in length and 1.6 inches taller. Although there are changes in dimensions, they aren’t likely to change the exterior and interior in a significant way.
More likely than not, the exterior and interior will stay mostly the same. That’s right, the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser will be a carryover model and won’t receive a redesign or refresh. This has been a trend in the lineup so it shouldn’t be surprising.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Upcoming Features
What kind of new features that the upcoming Land Cruiser will come with? There are many. According to the current reports, the Land Cruiser will have features such as LED headlights, sleeker lines, and a whole lot more of technology. A 12.3-inch display screen, a new infotainment system, and Toyota Safety Sense are said to be available as well.
Features that the previous model has, such as a standard 8-inch screen with Toyota’s infotainment system, an audio system from JBL and excellent off-road control knobs are likely to be standard.
Engine Specs – No More V8 Engine?
Some rumors suggest the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser will not use the same engine as the current Toyota Land cruiser. According to these rumors, rather than using the current 5.7-liter, V8 engine which is mated with an eight-speed auto transmission gearbox, the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser will be powered by a 3.5-liter V6, twin-turbocharged engine which is mated with a ten-speed auto transmission gearbox.
These rumors are likely to be true, considering the Land Cruiser is planned to have improved fuel economy and conform to emission standards. Compared to the 5.7-liter V8 engine, the 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine is the better option for that goal.
In terms of output, the V8 engine is more powerful. It has an output of 381 horsepower while the V6 engine has an output of 354 horsepower. Some suggest that there will be a more powerful version of the V6 engine with an output of 416 horsepower but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Now, will the V8 engine be dropped for the global market? There are many versions of Land Cruiser, including those that are marketed outside of the U.S. Because of this, it is very unlikely that Toyota will drop the V8 engine for all of the Land Cruiser.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid Variant
There is also a rumor that suggests there will be a hybrid engine variant for the upcoming SUV. Since hybrid engines are trending right now, it is plausible that the new Land Cruiser will have a hybrid engine option. Whether or not the rumor is proven true, only time will tell. For now, we can only wait for further details from Toyota.
Release Date and Price
The exact date of release and the price haven’t been announced by Toyota yet. That being said, reports suggest that the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser is going to enter production somewhere in August 2019. As such, we are likely to see it on the market in the third or fourth quarter of this year.
As for the price, it should be in the same range as the current Land Cruiser considering that there isn’t any significant change. We can expect the price to be in the $86,000 range. There may be a slight increase, but it will not be that much.
The upcoming Land Cruiser should at least be as comfortable and reliable as the current Land Cruiser. And from what we so far, we can expect the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser to be just as comfortable and reliable.
