2020 Peugeot Rifter 4X4 Interior

The Peugeot Rifter is an MPV lineup that has been in the market for years. While sharing the same name, the New Peugeot Rifter 4X4 is more like an offshoot rather than the successor of the lineup. The concept that Peugeot revealed gives us a glimpse of the upcoming vehicle: the 2020 Peugeot Rifter 4X4 is an off-roader, not an MPV.

For now, the Peugeot Rifter 4X4 is mostly a mystery. That’s not to say there is nothing we know about it, of course. We have gathered information regarding the design, engine, as well as features of the Rifter 4X4 below. Interested? Just read on.

2020 Peugeot Rifter 4X4 Design

In terms of design, the Rifter 4X4 is based on the MPV Rifter. According to the concept, the off-roader looks very similar to the current Rifter. The difference is that the 4X4 version looks bolder, rougher and tough.

For the exterior, the French automaker chooses black as the main color. There are strips of yellow all over the off-roader as well, giving it a more refined and sophisticated look. While it is meant to be an outdoor vehicle, the Rifter 4X4 surely has a captivating style. Most off-roaders are meant to look rough and tough. So seeing one that looks rough, tough, and stylish is certainly a sight to see.

The interior is stylish. The interior is designed to be comfortable on any terrain. The color scheme of the exterior is continued inside as well, with the interior dominated by black with yellow touches on several places. Peugeot also uses quality materials for the interior, ensuring comfort and style in all-terrain.

Engine Specs

Here is the part that you are waiting for: the engine under the hood. So, what engine will power the 2020 Peugeot Rifter 4X4? According to the concept, the upcoming Rifter 4X4 is going to be powered by a 1.5-liter, BlueHDi 130 turbocharged diesel engine. The diesel engine is able to produce up to 130 horsepower with up to 221 lb-ft of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox.

Is the power output enough? Off-roader vehicles aren’t well-known for their monstrous power output. They are not sportscars, after all. The emphasis is on the torque and their capability to handle various terrains. So yes, the power output of the Rifter 4X4 should be enough with the torque that it has.

In developing the Rifter 4X4, Peugeot partners up with DANGEL, which a company renowned for its specialty in handling four-wheel drive in and out transitions. That should make the upcoming off-roader even more comfortable to drive and ride in, regardless of the terrain.

Features

The Rifter 4X4 is planned to come with lots of features and amenities fitting for a modern off-roader. Peugeot boasted that the Rifter 4X4 will have three driving modes: 2RM, 4RM, and lock modes. These modes are meant for different terrains. Below are the details:

  • 2RM

This mode is meant for daily driving. In this mode, the front-wheel drive is used.

  • 4RM

This mode allows the transmission to handle the power transfer to the rear wheels in case the traction is lost. Mostly for off-road driving.

  • Lock mode

This mode is designed to handle cross axle and extreme off-roading situations. When this mode is activated, the rear axle will be locked.

The Rifter 4X4 also features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 16-inch wheels made of alloy, 80 mm higher ground clearance than the standard car, a roof tent by Overland, and BF Goodrich’s high performance, all-terrain tires. With such features and amenities, the RIfter 4X4 is going to be a great off-roader vehicle.

2020 Peugeot Rifter 4X4 Release Date and Price

The Rifter 4X4 is still a concept. It is still in the development phase. At the moment, Peugeot hasn’t made it clear when the off-roader will be released, let alone its price. The release date and price are unknown for now. Hopefully, Peugeot will make an announcement regarding these two details.

Closing

That is the revealed concept of the 2020 Peugeot Rifter 4X4. From the concept, it seems to be an exciting off-road vehicle. It has a sleek and tough design, a capable engine, and various features and amenities. Unfortunately, it is still a concept and has yet to enter production. Peugeot hasn’t given further release regarding when will it enter the market and how much will it cost.
