The compact crossover market is quite crowded. There are many lineups that you can find. Among them is the 2020 Acura RDX. Compared to its competitors, the Acura RDX makes it clear that it is a lineup of sporty compact crossovers. Indeed, its selling point is good quality and reliability with inexpensive price.
The latest iteration of the lineup, the 2020 Acura RDX has been released. Want to know more about it? Just read on and you will know what kind of compact crossover the 2020 RDX is. Ready? Let’s start.
2020 Acura RDX Design Exterior
First and foremost, the design. The lineup has just got a redesign in 2019. Not surprisingly, the 2020 RDX carries over most design elements that the 2019 RDX has. There is a difference, though. The difference is that the sheet metal of the compact crossover is available in color, dubbed Platinum White. Other than this difference, everything is the same as the 2019 RDX.
The lack of changes is not a bad thing per se. The main focus of a compact crossover tends to be placed on reliability and comfort. Looks, while does matter, is not the top priority.
In terms of looks, the 2020 RDX has a decent look. It has sleek, defined lines, and strong look, giving off a sporty vibe to it. Considering that a major redesign is done just a year ago, expect this looks to be maintained for a few years.
That is the RDX’s exterior. What about the interior? The interior is decent. The 2020 RDX is able to accommodate up to five adult passengers comfortably. Yes, including the passengers in the second row as well. For parents, the second-row seating can be modified to accommodate children comfortably.
The 2020 RDX has among the most refined interior in its class. The interior is built from high-quality materials. The interior is so good that many reviewers find that even the compact crossovers minimal plastics feel nice. That’s just how amazing the interior is.
What about the performance? The 2020 Acura RDX has one single option: a 2.0-liter, inline-four engine. This engine is capable of generating up to 272 horsepower and is mated with a 10-speed auto transmission gearbox.
While the engine doesn’t deliver much power, it is very reliable and more than capable enough to handle daily tasks thrown at it. In terms of mileage, it scored 22 mpg (city) and 28 mpg (highway), good numbers for a crossover SUV.
2020 Acura RDX Packages, Features, and Pricing
The RDX is sold as a single model. What makes the difference is the package included. For example, the base RDX starting price is around $37,600. This model comes with all the standard features. On the other hand, there is also the RDX A-Spec model sold at around $44,795. The A-Spec package brings extra features such as red interior accents and 20-inch wheels.
Two other packages, Technology, and Advance are also available. The Technology package costs around $3,200, which includes features such as built-in navigation, leather-trimmed seats with fancier style, better audio system, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors (both front and rear), and so on.
The Advance packages come with all the features of the Technology package with additional features such as a head-up display and adaptive dampers, costing around $8,100.
For a compact crossover, the safety of the 2020 RDX is excellent. IIHS named the 2020 model as the Top Safety Pick+ as it scored excellently in all of the crash tests done by the organization.
The 2020 RDX safety prowess is also recognized by another organization, the NHTSA. This organization gave the 2020 RDX an overall rating for safety of 5 out of 5, which proves how safe the RDX further.
